James standing in front of his painting of the Officers of the Royal Military Police, oil on canvas 15ft x 8ft.
James grew up in Midhurst, West Sussex and now lives in Chichester. He is a self taught artist who has painted many commissioned portraits, including Prince Andrew at Buckingham Palace as Colonel in Chief for the Royal Irish Regiment and has been an official war artist in Bosnia.
James paints portraits, landscapes and nudes. He paints in an impressionistic style with vigorous brush strokes, this gives the paintings a great sense of feeling and energy.
