Commissioning a Portrait

Portrait painting is enjoying a great revival in the 21st century and will continue to be important. It demonstrates love and commitment to a wife, husband, child and parent. Nothing is more personal, cherished or as long lasting as a portrait, it gives generations to come a sense of belonging and history. Portraits are given as a symbol of love, affection or gratitude. They are treasured memories of weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, special occasions, retirement or to capture the fleeting moments of childhood.

How to Commission a Portrait

Initial Meeting at Your Home

This is to discuss what you are looking for in a portrait such as the size and composition, formal or informal pose and the clothing. Photographs are then taken of the subject.

A 50% payment is made at this stage and the painting can now begin.

2nd Meeting

Occasionally a second photographic session is needed.

This is to refine and improve the composition.

Time Scale

From the time of the initial meeting to the delivery of the painting allow 3-6 months depending on complexity and size of the painting.
